Making an impact at Victoria Park

item3e

The SSP has made such a positive impact on all our children, staff and school community over the past four years. It is actually hard to believe how poor many aspects of physical education were prior to being involved in the SSP. As a staff we were not confident in the delivery of PE and always felt high quality PE could not be achieved because of our school site. Our school is a Victorian building with no field and a hall that is used for everything. The hall is surrounded by al the classes so therefore it is constantly being used as a walkway!

The main impact has been on the whole school approach to PE and how the profile and participation has increased dramatically with many fun initiatives delivered and supported by our KS1 SSCo and the SSP.

I don’t really know how to begin to tell you the improvements, although I do know that what has been written in this toolkit was not happening four years ago at Victoria Park! I feel what I have listed just shows a taster of all the improvements and I am sure there are many more that I could list!

Before the partnership neither of what is written below was happening BUT now it is!

  • 2 hours Participation! Now working towards 5 hour offer
  • Annual Fun Fitness Week
  • Festivals, both intra and inter!
  • Planning support in all areas of PE, curriculum mapping, Policy writing etc
  • Access to sports coaches
  • Inclusive opportunities
  • Huff and Puff and supportive SMSA training
  • OSHL clubs through the whole year
  • Training in write dance, tri-golf, Tag Rugby, Inclusive Games, Dance, Gymnastics, Games, Top Play
  • Quality professional development in activities and planning
  • PLT development – modules
  • Access to equipment
  • School Club Links
  • Positive attitude to PE by all children and staff!
  • Wake Up and Shake Up

It is a privilege to be a PLT. I enjoy it very much and most of all can see how it underpins all curriculum subjects through the delivery and understanding of the four aspects of learning.
