Curriculum maps

item3

At Victoria Park they have a comprehensive curriculum map where each class teacher can easily follow which lesson they are teaching. This map is reviewed each year.

The length of lesson and the duration of the teaching block is highlighted on the map as well as an overview of time committed to PE over the whole year.

The curriculum map is a working document that can be adapted easily in relation to ever changing topics. Staffs were given the opportunity to discuss with the SSCo the content and topics delivered and map accordingly. Some of the Durham Dance units were taken out and replaced different dance and gym topics mentioned on the map.

Key points for a curriculum map:

  • Unit title
  • Resource i.e. from the Durham or LCP etc
  • Duration in lessons and time
  • Assessment opportunities
  • Year group
  • Time of year

Curriculum Map 2 shows a mixture of the Durham and Lancashire lesson plans and the dance is from the Val Sabin SOW.
